Xmas Gathering @ Prive

Guess where this lady is going in her all white outfit?

Not that anyone is going to notice in this setting... ... Muhahaha (evil laughter)

Prive for our Christmas (cum secret surprise for Kenneth) dinner.

Turned up in our theme for the night: Ribbons and Bows. Initially we reserved a table for indoor seating, but the whole fine dining ambiance was so awkward and restrained that we decided to just go alfresco.

The irresistible bread basket. I think it helps that Prive has their own bakery at their cafe section so that their bread is served fresh from the oven. Also their salted butter was like icing on the cake. We nearly ordered a third helping for the bread.

Here comes the food. Skate wing with grilled lemon and whole garlic confit. The texture is somewhat like our good old BBQ stingray minus the sambal. I like the roasted garlic.

Capellini with Sakura Ebi. Like how Kenneth puts it. High class char mee. But I gave the thumbs up for this dish. Very fragrant given that the pasta was tossed in prawn oil and the sakura ebi (aka hei kia) adds a punch to the flavor as well.

Braised French Duck Leg with pearl barley risotto. So far the best duck I had was at Brussels Sprout and the best barley risotto was at Zambucca. I find the sauce a tad weird.

My vote for best dish of the night went to Rack of Lamb. Primitive, grilled to medium rare served with pearl onion and rooted vegetables, accompanied with some mint sauce. As you can see in the pic, the lamb was very moist and tender on the inside, highly recommended dish.

Cheers to good health!

After meal, time for the surprise! Happy Birthday to Kenneth.

Ha ha, and my small gift to Kenneth, his Happy Birthday shades.

Not forgetting the other December baby. Blamer who got a pair of the Happy Birthday shades from me too.

All in now

Everybody had to have a go with the shades.

Kenneth wanted us to comment if he looks better in white or red?

The chocolate truffle cake was really rich. Had to order something else to neutralize it. Lemon Meringue Tart. I really love this refreshing dessert, might be too sour for some though.

FMQ and Ray popped by when we adjourned to the waterfront bar after dinner. FMQ was screaming for us to order Primm's lemonade which we did. The other drink that we tried, Havana Sunrise, I suggest you give that a miss.
