Taiwan: National Palace Museum & 饒河街觀光夜市

A visit to National Palace Museum, also known as  國立故宮博物院 or 故宮 for short. Not to be confused with the 故宮 in Beijing, as that refers to the Forbidden City. Both 故宮s are commonly distinguished by the country in where the palaces are situated, namely 北京故宮 or 台北故宫. Nevertheless, I would strongly recommend a visit to both places, for you will be surprised at how much you can learn :)

The place is always crowded with tourists, with guides in tow to explain the history/background behind all the exhibits. During our previous trip, we used to tag behind these tour groups, so we can listen to the explanation as well. Now, we realized that each tour group have their own set of hearing aid, which bars people from trying to "eavesdrop" in their conversation :(

Made use of our TW youth card to get discount for the admission fee :) Finally something useful for the card, haha! No cameras/phototaking is allowed inside the palace.

It was still raining when we came out from 故宮. Bought 2 umbrellas from a nearby shop.

Leecher & Roger on the MRT, where we're heading to the next destination.

五分埔 for shopping! This place is a wholesale market. Try to look for those discounted racks outside the shops, for prices could go as low as NT100 for a top.

Even the guys are interested in shopping as well, haha!

Hot piping corns for snack :)  Taste best with butter on it.

Must try drink when you're in the land of bubble tea.

Cut across the train station to get to 饒河街觀光夜市. The train station has completed its renovation from our last visit!

The must have 胡椒饼, right smack in front of the entrance.

Leecher joining the queue to buy some.

Like a production line, workers were busy kneading dough, filling the buns with ingredients etc. The bun did not disappoint either, with a crispy texture and revealing the juicy meat within.

Another view from the back of the night market

Sat down for dinner, and ordered a few items to share.

I kinda like watching food prepared from scratched. Watching the well-trained movements of the owners, it's true to the meaning of practice makes perfect.
