The Blu Experience

It's post Labour day and we were both on leave to take advantage of the loooonnnnggggg wkend :) Been quite a while since we both went to "pator", so we decided to meet up @ town to do some shopping .....

Went to MOS burger for lunch - purposely made Leecher to queue up for food, so that I can continue to leech on his carrot head .... wa ha ha...

Leecher made a reservation @ The Blu @ Shangri-La hotel and for the first time ever, he actually went to find out how to go to the place. He confidently told me that take bus 132 or 105 at the bus-stop on Scotts Road (in front of DFS) and 3 stops later, woila, we will be in front of the hotel. As we were at Somerset bus-stop, so I told Leecher that we can take bus 700 to the bus stop in front of DFS. What happened there-after made me so "pissed off" and told myself that I would nv trust Leecher's road sense again ....

Incident 1: Wrong Bus Stop

I doubled and tripled confirmed with Leecher that DFS is the bus stop that we shld be going. He assured me 2000 times that it's the correct bus stop. When we alighted at the bus stop outside DFS, I look at the directory and told Leecher that there is no bus 132 or 105.

Me: Are you sure that this is the right bus stop?
Leecher (looking up at the bus guide): Ya, that's what the street directory says.
Me: Den how come the bus stop doesn't reflect bus 105 or 132?
Leecher: eh, not sure leh..are there any bus stops that serve different buses?
Me: all the bus stops serve different buses leh, what are you talking about?

Finally, Leecher managed to remember that its the bus stop after DFS, which is the Thong Tuck building bus stop. We walked over to the bus stop and saw 105 and 132. Thinking that we're on the right track, we boarded bus 105 when it came.

Incident 2: Wrong Direction

When we boarded the bus, Leecher was happily counting down to the 3rd bus stop. When we were almost reaching the 3rd bus stop, I pressed the bell. However, looking at the surrounding, i sensed that something was wrong - we're at Steven's road and we are going further and further away from Orchard. Thus, we didn't alight at the 3rd bus stop. When we approached Raffles Town Club, I am 100% certain that something was wrong and I dragged Leecher off the bus.

Me: are you sure we're in the right direction or not?
Leecher: ya, that's what the street directory says.
Me (feel like strangling him at this point): but we're going further away from Orchard, the bus will go up the expressway, so this is not the right direction.
Leecher: it's the direction going to Tanglin mall
Me (seriously want to strangle him): I doubled and tripled confirmed with you on the bus stop and you keep saying that its correct, but now, we're travelling in the wrong direction.

Haiz, I should have nv trusted on Leecher's road sense - so in the end, we took a cab and alighted at the hotel lobby safely.

Taking the lift up to 24th floor, where The Blu is located ...
The Blu, enjoy French-inspired contemporary cuisine, premium wines and champagne from a lofty vantage point 24 stories above the heart of Singapore.

Upon reaching, the waiter showed us to our seats and presented us with the menu .... wow, it's really personalised service, for they addressed Leecher as Mr Keith instead of just "Sir"

Ordered a glass of champagne each to kick off the night. We were pretty daring, for we just ordered what the waiter recommended w/o even asking for the price, haha. Once we placed the order, we quickly checked the wine list and found out that the champagne ranges from $26 to $59 per glass. We were pretty worried that it would be the highest range ($59) since it was recommended by the waiter. So, we decided to cam-whore with it - to make our money worth, wa ha ha.

First up, french baguette with butter and cracker. Leecher thinks that the bread tastes just like normal bread and the cracker is like 漏风 soda biscuit.

We had the complimentary pre-starters to whet our appetites ...
Tuna in a glass

Juicy & fresh scallop

Next up, the appetizers: scallops (me) and tuna (Leecher). It was only now that we realised that what we had for our pre-appetizers were just a swap of what we're having now ... :)

Finally, it's time for the entrée.... The word entrée is French. It originally denoted the "entry" of the main course from the kitchens into the dining hall. In the United States and English Canada the entrée is a synonym for the main course. What is called an entrée elsewhere is called the first course, appetizer, or starter.
We ordered the lamb shank in red wine sauce & lobster, heavenly ~~~~~~~

Leecher can't wait to savour his lamb shank ....

My "mini" plate of lobster - which I think can't even fill 1/4 of my tiny stomach, haha. However, it's fine dining - so everything is in small portion >.<

Our dessert : Coconut pannacotta with roasted pineapple and lemongrass ice-cream. Notice the bling bling on top - that's GOLD foil, OMG~

The waiter recommended that we should take a walk @ the Balcony ...

When the bill came, its almost $310 .... but not to worry, there's always Leecher's carrot head

Vouchers complimentary from his workplace, wa ha ha.

And that concludes our virgin dining experience @ the BLU ....

*Leecher quite handsome hor....?

* note: he forced me to type one, :(

Chalet & BBQ

It's Labour Day and we were invited to go to Cheryl's chalet for BBQ and some good fun. Travelled all the way from one end of the city to Pasir Ris, since the chalet is located at Changi. Since we only got our own "kar" and it's too far a journey to walk, we had to ring up Dennis to come and pick us up @ the MRT station.

Happily cam-whoring while waiting for the arrival of Little Vampire ...

The journey took around 20 mins - wa, imagine if we were to use our own "kar", I think it will take 3 hrs to reach. (Leecher will tend to walk very slow, due to his ever expanding waistline and will pull down our timing, wa ha ha)

The chalet is located in quite a tranquil surrounding - I can almost hear the birds chipping in the background ... I wanted to capture the SAF chalet office, but the 2 brothers quickly walked into the scene and "pretended" to be captured by dent dent >____<

Yeah, finally it's my turn in the picture ....

Shawn, our fire starter preparing to set the fire for the BBQ, together with Dennis.

While they were busy with the fire, guess what is Leecher doing?

Acting like a kid in the playground, wa ha ha. I think its most prob Leecher dunno how to start fire, so quickly "siam" the work ... Finally, Leecher decided to go and help to fan the fire ...

See, the sun is begining to set, but our fire doesn't look promising at all .....

It's time for the gals to take over, since the guys have failed miserably in fanning the fire ...

All it takes is me + auntie to fan the fire and we got this ...

GIRL POWER, wa ha ha.... easy stuff, >_< It's time to bring out the food, since we have the fire burning ....

Yummylicious !!!

The guys had to work hard to do some chores ....

while the gals took over the BBQ pit and cooked the food for the rest of the group.

The dearest princess, Elthea - so cute, but she seems very shy with strangers around ...

Leecher was feeling hungry and he tried to be nice to me, so that I can put some food onto his plate, hahaha.

Opps, my chicken wing looks a bit burnt ....must be Leecher's fault , hee hee

MJ time after the BBQ session ...

Wa, the dice is so big that no one can miss the feng lo ....

and Leecher ended up losing 4 bucks despite that I was winning when he took over....lousy, hahaha.

My thoughts ....

Lots of things are bothering me lately, the irony is that I am not the party involved ...

Sometimes I wonder - what will happen if we were given a 2nd chance at something?

Will we grab the opportunity to ponder and think through our decision?

Will we consider the consequences or just follow what we perceive is right?

Is it worthwhile to disrupt the present harmony?
