Kai Nian Fan 2009

(I hope this post can make it to the press on time) Our annual event since starting work in 2006. Kai Nian Fan for 2009. Special thanks to Fionn the organiser of the event, but most of the credits should go to ME! For yet again, I'm the earliest to arrive and chop places, saving all of us the time to queue up since the restaurant don't take reservations.

I even had the time to snap some pics of the kitchen. (Lighting problem, really need to read up Dent Dent's user menu)

First side dish - Fried country mushrooms! One of their best selling side dishes. I seriously think we kena conned for this. $9.90 for 7 of them, not really fantastic. It's cripsy but there's not much taste to the batter.

Next up Sizzling Louisiana Prawns. Looked really appealing.

But after they poured in the Louisiana sauce, eh... ...

The bread that was supposed to go with the prawns. I think they shld have toasted the bread first.

Fionn and Yaozu ordered their festive set. Hence each of them got a special drink.

Blamer and me ordered their Grilled Gala Platter for Two. If u think it looks strangely familar... ... Un-named sources told me that the boss of this place once worked at Fish & Co.

A pic of the two who tried to ignore each other.

Until their festive platter came.

A special guest joined us this year.

That's us getting comfortable at TCC. Me trying hard to tuck in my tummy after our earlier feast.

Our drinks, from left Lychee freeze (Kenneth's), Matcha kiss (Yaozu's) and Azuki freeze (Mine)

Tiramisu with extra Rum. Wa, the extra Rum cost a freaking extra 7 bucks, but when the waiter asked us whether we would like to have extra Rum, he did not mentioned that it will cost extra. Wa kena swindled with the waiter's sales trick.

Dark Devotion. The better of the two after that waiter poured in the extra rum on the Tiramisu.

Kenneth trying to irritate Shuhui by "mouthing" something to me.

Wa ha ha, the reaction from Shuhui was simply hilarious, too bad she forbided us from taking pictures, so can only take Kenneth.

A group photo to the end the post. It does feel good meeting up with friends once in a while.

BBQ @ Pasir Ris

It's time for BBQ to kick off the start of 2009! Benita invited me to her team's BBQ cum chalet @ Pasir Ris during the 1st wkend of 2009 :)

Phil brought his kids along and they were very well-behaved. Managed to "grab" Rose for a picture

She's such a darling!

What's a BBQ without any fire right?

Preparing to set up the fire ~

XiaoQiang ~ the man in command of the pit

Stacking the charcoal on the pit ...

Burn away ~

Meanwhile, the kids looked on ~ waiting for the cue to start BBQ

Jancy has kindly prepared BeeHoon & curry vegetables for our growling stomachs.

Taking a break from fanning the fire ~ Fardi, Benita & me :)

The fire is ready ~ time to rock & roll :P

Beni took charge to be the chef, since I still can't really tell if the food is cooked or not just by looking, opps!

The 1st batch of cooked food that was polished off within seconds ...

I decided to try my special specialty - BBQ Sambal prawns

Platinum service leh - I even peeled off the shells of the prawns, so that it will be easier to eat ~

Nice & spicy sambal prawns that is BBQ-ed to perfection. I think I have the talent of being a Prawn Master :P LOL

My 7-up management decide to sponsor this BBQ with 24 cans of 7-up. This is the privilege of being the spokesperson (not mentioning the X-dollar deal in my pocket, wa ha ha)

It was getting hot @ the BBQ pit, so we retired to the room for another round of activity

Countdown to a great 2009!

Counting down to the New Year @ Ryan's place this year! We missed out on Xmas & NY in Yr 2008, thus we must squeeze time out from our busy schedule for this gathering :) Ryan proposed to try Raclette this year (which is a type of dining centering around cheese. Oh, now i remembered - Leecher & me tried it at Jong's farewell party last year.)

Before we start the ball rolling, I have to rely on this bowl of beehoon to keep my stomach from growling, haha.

Introducing the attendees of the party :)

The couples who graced the event ...

The other "couple" ; waiting for the legalization of same-sex marriage :P

Ron made his grand arrival at the stroke of the 11th hr and joined the "foursome" gang, LOL.

Meanwhile, back to the feast ~

This gadget is pretty cool ~ maybe I should try to get a set of my own.

The main ingredient ~ looks so much like the cheese we see in the Tom & Jerry cartoon :P

Placing it on the tray and waiting for the cheese to "melt"

The side "dishes" that goes with the cheese.

Mr Ryan aka Jamie Oliver had the honour of demonstrating on how to eat the raclette cheese to us (aka the noobs)

1st step: pour the melted cheese onto your own plate (that sounds pretty easy)

2nd step: select the side dish that you wish to eat

3rd step: put the side dish & cheese together and popped it into your mouth! Tadah! Super easy right?

Grilling the food on the hot plate

Cheese with Ham ....

Cheese with Bread ....

Cheese with bread & salami... looks yummy right?

Can't wait to dig in!

Totally random - Fling got the gals Xmas pressie :) I'm glad to be your fren too!

Ok, back to the post: The gals bought a cake to celebrate the occassion.

Sweet Miaoli got us chocolate cake (@ my request! thx gal!)

Sisterhood ~ Miaoli left before we cut the cake :(

Pretty Babes ~

The gangsters, LOL

A group pic to end the night ~ Happy New Year & to a great 2009!

BPians Xmas Lunch

{Xmas last post! Finally, yeah & I know this is way overdue} Met up with Bobo & WL for our xmas lunch @ Kushinbo. As both WL & Bobo were on holiday, poor Me had to sacrifice my 1-day leave & popped by Jurong Point to have lunch with them. See, I am 伟大 :P

As sua-ku-ish as ever, this was my 1st time stepping into the new JP (ok, Leecher has yet to see the place yet, so he is more sua-ku than me, hahaha). Just when I thought that Lot 1 with its new wing was big, JP is like 1.75 times of the new Lot 1 now.

They even have this Jap street that houses the Jap restaurants. Bobo made a reservation and so, we were ushered into the restaurant while there was still a long queue outside, heehee.

The buffet spread in front of us ~ WooHoo! Lots of variety to choose from; which resulted in
