Chinese New Year 2010

Gathering at HQ place again. Steamboat dinner to celebrate the new year. Super outdated post but the blame is on Blamer cos she is the one holding onto the pics.

(Blamer here: Leecher kept the pics in his HDD without knowing that it was in there and still blame me, seems like he shld be named Blamer instead)

The early comers get to savor the spread first.

The soup is made with HQ's grandma's secret recipe, really yummi-licious. If we were to gather at my place next year, we will have to get him to come over earlier to cook the soup base.

While we were discussing whether to play poker or Mahjong in the living room... ...

HQ's conscientious wife was busy cleaning up in the kitchen. But where in the world is Blamer??? Wasn't she supposed to help out with the "girl's thing".

There she was, going though other ppl's fridge to sieve out this cute looking tiger cupcake to commemorate the Tiger Year.

How can it be a Lunar New Year dinner without a lo hei session?

Lo hei from Sushi Teh. I heard from a few reviews that Sushi Teh's lo hei is quite decent.

Everyone took turns to put in the condiments, saying something auspicious at the same time.

Comes with a generous amount of sashimi too. All set 3... 2.... 1!

HHHUUUAAAT ahhhh!

Ten over years of friendship and counting!

Finally Blamer comes into the pic. She will only appear when there's food to eat.

Cheers to great health and wealth for the year ahead!

World Cup Fever P7

Met up with Leecher after his match @ Chambers, we proceeded to another destination for Spain VS Paraguay.

My fave Mac! It was filled with students who are studying for their exams in between matches & uncles who prefer air-con as opposed to the Kopitiam opposite.

This time round, it's just the 2 of us :)

With nuggets & fries & ice green tea to share!

The last WC post for 2010 ... till Euro 2012, if I still have the energy to hang out till late :)

World Cup Fever P6

After our little date at Spruce, we parted ways to watch World Cup with our respective friends; Leecher back at the Chambers while I went to One Fullerton with my fave couple :) This time round, it's Germany VS Argentina!

My 2nd time @ Overeasy with MQ! Oh shucks, that reminds me: I have yet to blog about my 1st experience @ Overeasy :( *another item to add to the ever-expanding list*

Made reservation 4 days in advance to nab tables that were just in front of the screen. No mention of min spending & I thought I got quite a good deal. However, drama mama later ....

All set and ready to order ... MQ looks like a gigantic present waiting to be unwrapped :p

Ushered into the restaurant as it was drizzling outside. Ordered Mac & Cheese to share with MQ, as I was still full from Spruce dinner earlier. Good old fashioned Mac & Cheese that was not cloying. In fact, we polished off everything, even the cheese crumbles!

A mini version of Fish & Chips that shocked us when it was presented. Small in quantity yet the price tag suggests otherwise.

To-Die-For burger, that tastes more like Big Mac than anything else.

Cheesecake Creme Brulee as desserts!

Complimentary Raspberry Jell-O with Vodka. I took a small bite and passed it to MQ. Acquired taste to some, but it tasted like cough syrup to me.

Ok, the drama starts when we were ushered to outdoor seating for the match. We were placed given front row seats ..... BEHIND the screen. I was so pissed off that I went to find the manager and asked to be placed in front of the screen. The manager mentioned that there's a min spending of $60/pax if we want to be seated in front of the screen. I retorted (nicely) that his staff didn't mention any min spending when I called to reserve the table. He finally relent to waive off the min spending & got us seats in front of the screen ... yippee!

My drink to last me the night ...

Match started & ended with Heaven crying for Argentina when they lost 4-0 to Germany! So sad, but then again, Messi was just so messed up during this match.

World Cup Fever P5

Blamer and I went our separate ways for another night of World Cup action. It's been a while since I met up with my JC mates. I missed the major part of dinner at No Signboard, managed to pinch a few crab claws and fried mantou though.

But highlight of the night was the booze and football! Back at Chambers once again, liked it here because of the very "On-z" crowd. There seems to be a majority supporter team every time I'm here. Tonight, the ground belonged to the Germans.

Discovered Ivan's rare talent... ... Cap opener!

To make the match more exciting, I proposed a side bet where everyone contributes to a pool and pick your winner. I choose Argentina after witnessing their earlier prowess against South Korea. Look how attentive we were when money was added to the mix.

Awww... In the end, the Germans proved to be the better team. Ineffective Messi, maybe he was as drunk as our own number 10 here.

Handing over the prize money to the winners. I will be back for Euro 2012!

World Cup Fever P4

Back @ the Chamber's for another exciting match: Skorea VS Uruguay, the knock-out stage.

We arrived bright & early to grab our table. Match was scheduled to be at 9pm, but we were told to grab the table latest by 8pm, if not, they will let go of our table -__-

When it's SKorea match, I can only think of 1 person to watch with

Ta-dah! Die-hard Skorea supporter :) FMQ is still missing the RED shirt!

Leecher & Ray

Cranberry for the ladies .... its RED! Skorea go go go ...

Erdinger for the guys. I still prefer Hoegarden or better still, Timmermans!

Mixed Grill - Bacon Prawns, Chicken & Beef that costs $20 nett.

"The Chambers" XO Chicken Wings at $12 nett.

Seafood basket at $20 nett.

Food were served cold and don't deserve such a hefty price tag. Total ripoff, if I may add. We were better off buying chips at the nearby 7-11 to refill the plates.

Bad food aside, the place was filled with lots of SKorea supporters this time, chanting in korean! When SKorea scored a goal, the cheers were so overwhelming. Waiters made use of this advantage going around asking customers if they want to re-fill their buckets/glasses for another round, smart strategy ~ I bet their cash register(s) must be ringing non-stop that night :p
