Phuket 2010 Day 2 P2

Boat leaving similan island to the next destination

Singha beer to accompany us along the way, much to Leecher's delight.

Inching closer to the final stop for the day.

This picture will give a great hint on where is the location ..... *look at the shape of the rocks*

Obvious enough? Easily the most recognisable and photographed landmark in the Similans, Donald Duck Bay is named after a rock on the north side of the bay that resembles the cartoon character.

Another rock, known as the Sail Rock is the most prominent large boulder that balances precariously at a seemingly impossible angle.

Stepping out to explore the island! It was scorching hot that we had to resort using our towels as "umbrellas".

Leecher spotted something unusual about the rocks.

Check this out!

These were seashells attaching themselves to rocks. However, be careful not to touch them as some were quite sharp and you could end up injuring yourself.

We had to walk through the land bare-footed as our slippers were being kept by the instructors.

Awesome view from the top!

Leecher doing his "Buddha" pose. We were thankful that we brought the towels along, as the rocks were hot enough for eggs to be cooked. I'm amazed that we were able to walk around bare-footed during that point of time!

Our cheeky instructors posing for the camera.

The famous sail rock ....

We had to climb up the rocks to take pictures and Leecher was surprised that I could climb all by myself without any help, heehee.

Fantastic view from another angle; the wonders of Mother Earth.

With the ever-so-interesting instructor and the always-ready-to-capture-our-pictures assistant.

Totally had no idea why Pris raised her hand, lol!

All good things come to an end eventually & I'm glad that we had the chance to visit this island. As the saying goes, don't judge a book by its cover ... who would have guessed that names like Similan & Donald Duck Bay would have such breath-taking views?

Phuket 2010 Day 2 P1

The day started early, as we booked ourselves on an island-hopping trip!

Gathered our towels which will definitely come in useful later :)

Part of the tour group assembled outside the area.

After choosing our equipments, we were all set for a day of sea & sun.

The weaved bag that I got in Bali sure come in handy for this trip!

Following the instructor to the beach, quite a walk from the assembly point.

Finally,the sea-view came into sight.

Telling us the rules & regulation when on-board the speed boat.

Enjoying the cool breeze, with a glass bottle of coke in hand.

Reading the write-up of the islands that we are going to visit today. Be sure to slap tons of sun-block lotion when going island-hopping, if you don't want to end up as chao-ta as us.

Safety first, always wear life jacket unless you're as seasoned as the instructors.

On the way to our 1st destination

Spotted from a distance *mega excited*

Check out the water!

We stopped here for snorkeling & it was my 1st experience trying out snorkeling, as I am a non-swimmer. Despite that, I was gamed to try out something different :)

Just when we were all getting ready to go down into the waters, we saw this
.

.
.
.
Sea turtle! So cute, reminded me of the movie "finding Nemo" and we did saw a lot of "dory(s)" and "nemo(s)" while snorkeling.

Our next destination, Similan island. Yes, this name still tickles the laughing bug whenever I tell people about this island, but trust me, it's a must-go whenever you're in Phuket.

Yes, this is Similan, which is a Yawi word, meaning Nine. Similan is one of the most famous diving sites in Thailand and noted as one of the top 10 dive destinations in the world.

That's our mode of transporation :) I'm just glad that I didn't experience sea-sick.

I have nv seen water that clear before this trip.

The guys taking pic against the beach. We need a better backdrop.

More like it! Mega love the place. There are no resorts or stores, only a couple of ranger stations and a few bungalows available for rent.

Decided to venture deeper into the water....

Walking & walking ....

To take pictures, LOL.

Another one!

Leecher also wants his own solo shots too!

Lunch break to curb the hunger pangs. Food was relatively simple but we gobbled everything on our plates.

Can you guess what Leecher is doing?

We were trying to make sand angels on the beach.

A last pic before we board the boat for the next destination.

Where will it take us next?
