The aftermath of a long holiday

1000+ emails to be cleared on Monday, even though I've already read some of them during the trip :( Leecher was chiding me for having the Blackberry addiction, where I will subconsciously check my work emails whenever we have internet connection during our trip. Guess old habits are hard to kick.

Post-holiday Blues

Back to work after touching down yesterday evening. 14 days of holiday across 2 cities, 11GB of pictures & lots of walking! Now, back to earning more money to finance the next trip in June.

Arbite Xmas/Bdae meal

A non-related wedding post, as I'm still trying to load all the pictures onto this blog & it certainly is taking quite a long time to blog a single wedding post entry. Meet up with Yaozu & Kenneth for dinner around Xmas period (ok, that gives away the timeline of the pictures, lol).

Walking along the alleyway towards the destination, as we couldn't get a parking lot in front of the shop.

Our foodie adventure this time round (based on my recommendation!) at Arbite.

Leecher was on half day (which explained the casual outfit) but he picked me up @ Serangoon MRT station, cuz Chomp Chomp was quite out of the way from any MRT station.

What does Arbite really means?

"A pun on the German/Danish word for work (arbeit/arbejde). Inspired by Europe
but rooted in Singapore. An intrinsic honesty to the word. This permeates
everything that we do and serve" -- from Arbite website

The cosy restaurant is located on the 2nd floor & while walking up, the whitewashed walls are decorated with pieces of lego. The holes were left behind by the previous owner and the current Arbite owners decided to spice it up by pasting lego on it.

Xmas set menu - it may make its round again come this Dec.

Kenneth looking through the menu - spoilt for choices!

The place was pretty packed on a Friday night & for once, Leecher called in for reservation! I'm utterly surprised that Leecher actually called for reservation, for this is the kind of "job scope" that usually gets "dedicated" to me, haha!

Drinks - the usual of chocolate milkshake, ice tea & sanpellegrino juice.

Garlic bread was served warm. The garlic fragrance wasn't too overwhelming and good enough to eat it on its own.

Crab cake which was fried to perfection, no traces of oil can be tasted (I wonder if they are using the new Air-Fryer, haha) and the golden crust was crisp and tasty.

Saffron Seafood Stew, which comes with mussels, squid, fish, prawns and pitted green olives stewed with tomatoes & herbs. The tomato soup base whips up the appetite by several notches.

Arbite (all-day) breakfast - scrambled eggs, bacon, baked beans, grilled tomato, veal bratwurst, sauteed mushrooms and pommes noisettes. We nearly died of bread overdose, but the rest of the items were great! Love the sauteed mushrooms the most :)

Pappardelle with mushrooms and parma ham - comes with button mushrooms, spinach, parma ham and cream sauce drizzled with truffle oil. As much as I like cream-based pasta, I wouldn't order it when eating on my own, as I'll get the jerlak feeling majority of the time. As we are sharing food b/w us, I went ahead to order this and this dish got the thumbs up from all of us!

Squid Ink Tagliatelle Seafood contains mussels, squid, prawns and chilli in a tomato base sauce. Nothing too fantastic about this dish, as it was basically a replica of Saffron Seafood Stew.

The real star of the night! Now I know why Leecher called to make reservation, haha! Totally unexpected and this came as a pleasant surprise :)

Making a wish ... forever 21~

My Wife’s Chocolate Cake (how apt!) served with a scope of Mövenpick ice-cream. A light dessert to finish off the meal :)

Wedding Celebrations - Say I Do P2

Hello from Amsterdam! Was in Paris the previous week with Leecher for our honeymoon, and now, we are spending a week in Amsterdam :) Weather is kinda cold (for my standard) but Leecher is enjoying every moment of it - walking along the streets under the sun but not sweating at all. Paris was lovely and no, I didn't go crazy shopping - much to Leecher's surprise! Can't wait to check out the lovely Keukenhof garden (that was the main purpose of our Amsterdam trip) later in the week. Back to our wedding posts and before you know it, we will touch down in sunny island SG :)

When the cue was given, we began to march in into the room. Win could sense that I was feeling very nervous and kept telling me to just enjoy the moment.

So glad to see a lot of our friends & relatives who came specially for this ceremony.

Leecher waiting patiently at the end of the aisle.

Holding my hands and helping me to the table, where the Justice of Peace (JP) was sitted together with the Win & Daddy-in-Law.

JP Phua Tan Tee was one of the more popular JP based on the +ve reviews that we gathered across forums. We were glad to have chosen him as our JP, for he was funny, cracking jokes and drew a lot of laughter from the crowd.

My initial nervous feelings were calmed by Leecher's presence and JP Phua's humour. Soon, we were laughing till I almost felt tears in my eyes.

Time to exchange our rings :)

"With this ring, I marry you"

We chose to write our own vows, as we wanted it to be meaningful and special just for the 2 of us. Leecher was so stressed out over his vows, but he said his vows beautiful (and he even memorized it!) that drew tears from me.

Tissues promptly arrived at Leecher's hands (my sisters are super efficient!)

I got my cue card ready with my vows written on it, so Leecher had to hold the mic for me while I said my vows to him.

And sealing our vows with a kiss :)

JP Phua continued to entertain us with his humour - he was switching effortlessly between English, Mandarin and sometimes, translated some parts of his speech into Teochew/Hokkien for the elder guests.

Time to print our names on the ROM cert, whereby we will officially be married!

JP Phua signing his name on our cert. Once we finished signing the cert, JP Phua announced that we can now login to our Facebook and change our status, lol!

Tadah - we are officially married!

He's such a fatherly figure and gave us both words of wisdom for maintaining our marriage.

Newly prompted to Mrs Lim Kesheng, lol! Still gives me the jitters when someone calls me Mrs Lim - sounds so old!

I was alright initially, but tears just kept flowing when receiving the well wishes from brothers and sisters! We're very thankful for everyone who came especially early for the ROM ceremony :) The event wouldn't have been the same without your presence!
